Jeffrey Steinhardt Current Position: International Legal consultant Experience: Jeffrey Steinhardt is a lawyer with diverse experience including public policy and international commercial and economic development. He is presently an international legal consultant, based in the UK, and works with governments, organisations of the UN, and regional policy groups on intellectual property and other issues related to electronic commerce and competition policy; he has provided training for government officials and the judiciary in many countries. He worked for 11 years in the international legal department of Microsoft, where he was regional legal counsel for Africa, the Mediterranean and Middle East until May 2003, and before that, in Latin America. He was also Vice-President of the worldwide Business Software Alliance (BSA), an association of leading publishers. Jeffrey was in private law practice, worked as a law professor at the University of California San Francisco Hastings School of Law and as visiting professor in Silicon Valley's Santa Clara University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the California Supreme Court and US Federal Courts. Previously he served as a consultant in community cultural development, health care education and delivery, and occupational health and nutrition services in low-income Spanish speaking communities of the Western U.S. He has also worked as a performer in music and theatre. Education He studied law at University of California, Davis and clerked with the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. .
