EvD's work is providing unique insights across a range of discipline boundaries.

Pilot studies have

    • Provided a new, quantitative understanding of the effects of HIV/AIDS on poverty and food security.
    • Analysed the capacity of primary producers to adapt to volatile international commodity markets.
    • Produced new insights into the links between household economy and malnutrition.

The methods and approaches we use have evolved over the past decade with the support of leading agencies in the international development sector. Pilot studies were implemented under the auspices of Save the Children UK (www.savethechildren.org.uk) and the main funder for these studies was the UK Department for International Development (DfID) (www.dfid.gov.uk ).

Evidence for Development is currently working with Hope and Homes for Children (HHC) (http://www.hopeandhomes.org/), to develop practical monitoring and evaluation tools for its programmes. HHC works in Rwanda and South Africa to support family-based care for children affected by HIV/AIDS.
